This scavenger hunt clue generator assembles a trail from written templates in your browser. Choose an occasion, setting, and five, eight, or ten clues. Copy the full chain for player cards or save an organizer overview. Check each location before hiding anything; the tool cannot know your home or local venues.

How to use the scavenger hunt clue generator

Pick the occasion, where the hunt will happen and how many clues you want. Hand the first card to the player, then hide every other card at the spot named on it. The last card leads to your prize, so add where the prize is hidden if you like.

Make the clues personal

Treat each clue as a draft. Swap in a nickname, an inside joke or a shared memory, such as the café where you met or the shelf with their favorite book. Personal clues turn a simple hunt into a gift.

Before you hide anything

Walk the route once, check every hiding spot is safe and easy to reach for the player, and keep a list in your pocket. For hunts around town, ask a friend or a shop to hold clues and confirm opening hours first.

Read the chain before setting it up

A five clue hunt has five destinations and a final reveal card, plus the opening card you hand to the player. Each hidden card describes the following destination; the last card carries the ending instead of another riddle. Read the complete chain once before placing anything. Put the label and card text on your organizer copy, then copy the clue text onto separate player cards. Keep the full result so a missing card does not interrupt the whole game.

Choose places that really exist

The generator uses a curated set of locations for each setting. It cannot know your home layout or which businesses are nearby. If a named spot is unavailable, copy the result into your own document and replace both the location and the clue that points to it. Changing only the hiding label will break the chain. Around town, arrange each stop with a helper or the venue before the hunt, and check the route makes geographic sense.

Match the route to the players

Choose five clues for a short activity, eight for a longer trail, or ten when the players want more searching. Count is a starting point rather than a difficulty rating. Read riddles aloud for younger players, or replace them with photographs of reachable locations. For a mixed group, give hints without turning reading speed into a competition. Keep a way to skip a stop so everyone can enjoy the same ending even if a clue is difficult.

Write a clear final location

The optional prize field adds your chosen location to the final reveal. Describe the exact place naturally, such as behind the blue curtain, and check it again after generating. The tool cannot verify that the prize is there or that the location is accessible. If you leave the field empty, plan to hand over the prize or add your own ending before making the cards. For a proposal, keep the final moment at a place your partner would find comfortable.

Copy full clues or save an overview

Copy result and Share include the complete text, including the organizer labels and opening instructions. Use that version when preparing the player cards or asking a helper to set up the route. The image download is a hiding-spot overview for the organizer; it is not a set of printable clue cards. Keep it as a quick checklist, and use the full text for the riddles. Preview anything you print so directions and answers are not accidentally mixed together.

Check and reset without losing your plan

Generate another route if you want a different ordering, but copy any version you intend to keep before changing the inputs or leaving the page. Results live only in this browser session and are not saved as an account draft. A fresh route still needs a walkthrough: check the first clue, every transition, and the ending. Ask a helper to try it from the player's perspective, then collect every card afterward so none is left behind.

A clue tool and a published gift are separate

This free tool assembles written clue templates locally. It does not create a hosted scavenger hunt, contact helpers, schedule messages, or publish a recipient link. You can finish a physical hunt entirely with the copied text. If you want a separate interactive memory gift, BloomQuest: Celebrate offers editable quest drafts and optional private contributions reviewed by an organizer. Creation and preview in the app are free; publishing a shareable unlisted quest link is a paid step.

Common questions

How do I set up the clues in order?

Give the player the first card. Each remaining card is labeled with where to hide it, and its text describes the next hiding spot. Hide them all before the hunt starts and keep the generated list as your master copy.

Is this tool free without signup?

Yes. The tool result, copying and image downloads are free and do not require an account. Creating and publishing a full BloomQuest is a separate app experience with free creation and preview; payment is required to publish a gift link.

Where do my inputs go?

Calculation and template assembly happen on this device. This tool does not upload or save your inputs. Only a tool-start event and a product-CTA click are measured; your entries and results are excluded. Sharing or downloading is your choice.
